It is ART that makes life, makes interest, makes importance,
and I know of no substitute for the FORCE and BEAUTY of its process.

Pamala Smithsted - Wy'east Artisans GuildPamala Smithsted

“I have always enjoyed expressing myself creatively in various ways. In about 2000, I discovered how wonderful it felt to have a paint brush in my hand and I dove in with all my heart. I loved oil painting from the beginning.

I taught myself to paint by reading instructional books and looking at other artist’s work. Most importantly, I let nature teach me. I began asking myself ‘What color is that tree trunk really? How would I mix the color of that water? How would I make it move? How could I re-create that texture?’ It has been amazing! It has opened the world to me and I’ve learned to see so much more than I had previously.
